Heavy Events and Highland Games
In March 2018, Camden proudly joined the esteemed South Carolina cities of Charleston, Greenville, Clover, and Columbia in hosting a NASGA-certified Highland Games. NASGA, the North American Scottish Games Athletics, established in 1976, is fervently dedicated to promoting and enhancing the understanding of Scottish Heavy Events competitions across North America. The 2025 games, a highlight of the 9th Annual Irish Fest Camden, are set to unfold on Saturday, March 1st, beginning at 9:00 am (gates open to the public at 9:30 am) at the historically rich and visually stunning grounds of Historic Camden Revolutionary War Park. This venue is renowned for being one of the most historical and beautiful on the Highland Games circuit and serves as a splendid opener for the Carolinas Season.
Registration for Open and Masters categories for both Men and Women opens on January 9, 2024, with a registration fee of $30. The number of participants is limited, so early registration is recommended.
Each participant will receive lunch and a t-shirt. The events will feature a range of traditional challenges, including Putting the Stone 20#, 56# Weight Throw, 28# Weight Throw, 22# Hammer Throw, Caber Toss, 20# Sheaf Toss, and 56# Weight Toss. *Time permitting, the Braemar Stone and Light Hammer will also be included. Prizes will be awarded for each group.
The Athletic Director for the 2025 IFC Highland Games is Rick Norred. Mr. Norred, with his rich history as a former heavy event athlete, now serves as a judge and athletic director throughout the southeast. To register, please complete the form below.
